If you're interested in role playing in the DC superhero universe, then this is the book you might want to get. It is beautifully illustrated. In fact, the art may have been the thing that I liked the most about this book. It also provides lots of options for creating your hero. However, this is its weakness as well. It's based off of an older points-based character building system. Compared with more modern narrative-based role playing systems, this can be really difficult to manage as the modi [...]
Borrowed this from a friend in the hopes of using it to convert an older game system over to its use. What I found here was an incredibly detailed book. The writing is superb and the D20 system shines through here in all its glory. In truth I have read and played better Supers games but this one isn't half bad at all. The production quality is amazing and the art is DC art from comics and covers, so you can imagine it is outstanding. Can I use this for my conversion project? Nope! Is it a great [...]
Bottom line, this game - the DC-themed version of Mutants & Masterminds 3rd Edition - is a very good RPG, one of the best superhero RPGs ever. Of the games currently on the market, I recommend this highly. Based loosely on the d20 System (also used in D&D 3rd Edition), this provides a great balance between rules-heavy systems like Hero and rules-light systems like Fate - combining unified mechanics and storytelling aspects with a robust character creation system. You can make nearly any [...]
Third Edition Mutants & Masterminds with the DC properties. This is the best traditional "crunchy" superhero RPG on the market. It's a shame that DC went and ruined their comics with the "New 52" right in the middle of this line's run. Still, a beautiful book for a good system. I doubt it's one I'll run anytime soon, but I'd recommend it to someone looking to run a superhero RPG.
Interesting system, but incredibly confusing combat rules. This book does a very poor job explaining the game mechanics, particularly as they relate to giving and taking damage. I don't think I can use this and feel as though I wasted my money.
Absolutely fantastic book. I can't wait to run my on adventures in the DC Universe.
A lot of people sware by this edition of M&M, but I am not a fan at all.
