Honestly one of the BEST LitRPG books I have read.Few typos, which is uncommon in this new genre. Great character development, good story. The first 10% is in real life and only just gets into the game at that point. However, instead of taking away from the gaming side of things it just adds further to character development and shows how the real world affects the game. Instantly bought the second book.
I liked the story outside of the "game" much more than other litRPG series I've read. It really could have benefited from even a single editing pass. There were many grammatical and simple typos. The AI implant being capable of gaining its own sentience is a great idea and I hope this is explored much more in the coming books.
EnthralledThere are things I love and dislike about this book. The whole concept of a futuristic society that stays jacked in almost constantly sounds somewhat familiar. I'm sure there are some who would love that. The obvious misspellings annoyed me along with the grammar problems. I'm used to seeing these in translated light novels but I don't pay for those.Still, the story was well worth it, although I find myself disappointed that Leah isn't learning how to code. With such a sci-fi backgroun [...]
As of Nov 10, 2017, I have read both books and eagerly await the third. I have read quite a few litrpg and I have to say that for me this is the best I have read, and I don't say that lightly. In some ways it reminds me of The Trapped Mind Project (Emerilia Book 1) series by Michael Chatfield. It isn't similar, just reminds me.The two books as of this writing of this review, Nascent (The Stork Tower Book 1) and Odyssey (The Stork Tower Book 2), were not only a joy to read, combining real life an [...]
I want to like it.The premise is interesting and the story well written and paced, but there's very little character development, people do very dumb things with no explanations, and the world itself makes no sense.Potentially spoilerish examples: The MC gets a spell that summons a giant spider monster minion, she doesn't even bother to learn it and no explanation of why is given, considering the situation, she obviously isn't afraid of spiders. She never uses the clone spell she got, and Wisp n [...]
Unbelievably interesting, a real fun read. I'm just not a gamer.Having never played any kind of computer games other than Chess, Sudoku, and card games, I had a hard time with all the point stuff. I also had problems trying to remember all the Spells, weapons, options etcIf this were a regular Fantasy novel with a set # of abilities and without all the numbers and used the quests as adventures I would have loved it even more. I think Gamers would really like this. Since I love the characters I p [...]
Another self published book that needs a really good editor.I love the story, the main character and the world of the book and had trouble putting the book down but there are significant issues with the editing and the plot. This book needs a significant rewrite to get the book to a four or five star to improve the plot. Nothing really happens in the book and the ending is a bit bland and random. The rating of this book would have you believe it's on par with books from authors like Raymond E Fies [...]
Loved it. I always enjoy a 'coming of age', 'empire building' fantasy that has the main character and world around them continuously evolving. I love the ratio blend of sci-fi and fantasy. Completely balanced in my humble opinion.
An originalish take on Litrpg. This was a really fun read. So happy to see the second book is out. If you like a book full of loot and quests that actually make you interested in the events happening around the MC then I definitely recommend.
Great start to a seriesThis was a really good read. Very nice and different type of fantasy game play. Fun story to read and great twists.
Very few typos, great story, keep it up!!
DelightfulThis is a great read. I wasn't totally sure from the blurb. but it was well worth the price and it is nice and long as welk!
Great scifi bookGreat transhuman read, got bothe good and bad aspects of such tech. Which makes this an excelent read. Highly recommend.
Love, love, love! I definitely recommend Nascent to anyone!
Easily in my top 3 LitRPG books I've read thus far. Relatively straightforward, with a cool protagonist and an interesting premise. I look forward to seeing the interplay between the real and virtual worlds, especially as Leah's irl powers begin to manifest.
Easily among the best of the best LitRPG that I've read so far. So much fun to read.
Good Series!Too much to like! The mc is very likable, in so many ways! Especially her creativity, attitude, and relationships! A very good read, with two more in the hopper, and a fourth due fairly soon. Yum!
Great Book! This is Tony Corden's first (of a series) effort with Atherleah in a futuristic LITRPG yarn. It is definitely a winner, in this story he has given a lot of thought to his universe(s) and we benefit from his careful crafting of the background, the technology and the characterization. This was my first Tony Corden novel and my first introduction to Atherleah. We have a story of an up and coming young lady of sixteen that draws you in. And wow what a ride it was. The only time I had any t [...]
