Anyone with any interest in the history of Hawaii needs to know about the Parker Ranch. This book helps fill the vacuum. While it is full of information, however, it reads as if it were commissioned as a corporate hagiography where all the men are heroic and all the women are good-looking. There's a lot of sentimentality and purple prose, and the author never met a cliche he didn't like.
