Alright, let's do this thing! There are a couple things that will be dealbreakers for some, so let's just get those out of the way so I can squeal, k?Eli is bisexual. He makes no secret of enjoying both genders and he is a bit of a libertine. There is no MF on page sex but there are MF interactions. Readers who are sticklers for their MCs only sexing up the other MC will probably balk. I'm in the "they were on a break" camp in this Ross/Rachel debate or Eli/Jack, as it were, but there you have i [...]

The setting of this book intrigued me - a network of spies in NYC over the winter of 1776-1777 socializing with British officers to discover information on troop movements for General Washington. As Jack, Eli and wealthy widow Constance Sullivan set about unearthing information, each character deals with multiple layers of deception. Jack West is gay at a time in history when it was extremely dangerous (and his past serves as a horrible reminder of this) and while Jack keeps his desires close to [...]

An MM romance set in the midst of the American Revolution.Jack and Eli are complete opposites. Jack is an officer in the Continental Army. He's reserved and suppresses his attraction to men.Eli is an up-and-coming socialite and a patriot sympathizer. He's hedonistic and goes after who he wants, man or woman. When the two are thrown together in a plot to gain intelligence on the British forces, they immediately clash. But there's also an immediate attraction between them.Eli's seduction of Jack is [...]

This is a great historical which looks at the Culper Spy Ring established by Washington during the Revolutionary war in the late 1700s.It very much reminded me of TURN: Washington's Spies, an excellent TV show which is also based on the same subject.Although the characters in this are fictitious, the events they centre around were very much real in the turbulent time of the 13 Colonies trying to break free from British rule.I liked that in this there are no good and bad, both sides act in the ma [...]

I really enjoyed that one. I'm not a huge fan of historicals but Silvia Violet definitely pulls it off. Eli and Jack are great together, and the way she handles the whole issue about being gay back in the 1700's was really well done. The spying/war time part of the novel is very interesting and shares the spotlight with the gorgeous sex scenes I expect from Violet (you won't be disappointed, believe me).Thankfully I didn't start this one till I had Of Hope and Anguish in my hot little hands. I wo [...]

Historical romance has always been a favorite of mine since it was the first "naughty" reads I ever indulged in. I have to admit I did always want stories about gentlemen finding love with other gentlemen though I never found them when I was young and curious. As a queer woman, I love reading about love between people like myself throughout the ages; I don't need history to be compromised for the sake of my enjoyment which is why I am so glad Silvia Violet writes fiction where it's dangerous to [...]

As a lover of historicals, I can honestly say that I absolutely LOVED Revolutionary Temptation! The detail to the time really heightened an already great story of drama and love. Jack is wary of his inclination, with good reason, and Eli is not. Eli may not flaunt his lifestyle for all to see, it is a dangerous time to be gay afterall, but he also doesn't restrict his wants and he's certainly not as quiet as Jack thinks he should be. When they find themselves brought together for the cause of fr [...]

The only books I had read by Silvia Violet previously were her contemporary Thorne and Dash books, so I my interest was piqued when I saw this historical romance coming out. I was really pleased by what I got with Revolutionary Temptation, and I loved the mix of intrigue, romance and a bit of suspense. As an M/M story set during the fight for American independence, it also has the added tension of what might happen if our main characters are caught together.Jack is more than willing to do what i [...]

This is a story about the honorable Captain Jack West and the scoundrel Elias Ashfield. When Jack got his leg injured he was task to spy on the British, which he deemed the assignment totally humiliating. He rather face the bullet in a battle like a gentleman rather than spying on the enemies for information. While working as a reluctant spy/informant, Jack met Mrs Sullivan and Mr. Elias. Mrs. Sullivan is a woman he grow to admire, while Mr. Elias prove to be a sinful temptation. On the romance p [...]

Re-read June 2017I think I liked it better the second time around. For certain I hope this comes out in an audio version.4.5 StarsI'm so glad I started reading more historical gay romance novels, otherwise I might have missed out on this gem. Color me beyond impressed with the tale and with the details. Also, fuckyeah for a strong, competent, amazing female spy leader; Constance was probably my favorite part also mentioned in the afterward that she has more stories to tell of Jack, Eli and Const [...]

I really liked this. Can't wait for more of these characters.

Yes, I will admit I love historicals! There, I have said it and I feel NO shame! *grin*This was a story after my own heart! A "true" historical with a "true" gentlemen that just happens to desire men instead of women and a "not-so-true" scoundrel that will bed anything that moves if it will better his position in life or, at least that is how it seems at the beginning of the story but, things are not always what they seem! There are many tangents taken in Eli and Jack's relationship duty to coun [...]

Well.Thank god. I finished the book. That's not what I should be thinking at the end of a book. That's what you say at the end of a long race, a tough work week; not at the end of a book.I admit that I truly and sincerely liked the first third of this book. This is the reason for the three star rating, otherwise I would have rated this a 2.5. I felt that the writing was good, and the spy plot was intriguing. I liked the tension between the two MCs. But once they got together, the plot fell away [...]

Book & Author: Revolutionary Temptations by Silvia VioletRating: 4 StarsAs a lover of historical stories I was excited to find one that was set in the time of the Revolutionary war since I haven’t ever read one and I am kind of a lover of all things history. Added bonus was that it was written by Silvia Violet, who I love as an author. I liked the story but maybe there was just too much push and pull from the two main characters for me to fall too deep into the story or it could that my ow [...]

Wounded while fighting against the British, rebel captain Jack West, is given other orders while he recuperates in New York. To find out as much as he can about the British troops there. Soldier numbers, supply routes, plans for their next attack in the Spring. Jack is very reluctant at first, he feels like spying and gathering information in such an underhand way is not the work of a gentleman. And when he discovers his contact in New York is a woman, he feels even more appalled that the army w [...]

Gay (well, one gay and one bi) spies in NYC during the American Revolution! This is definitely romance, and not super-researched historical fiction or anything, but I enjoyed it. I liked the characters, just would've preferred more history. Also you have Alexander Hamilton show up in your gay boy romance, and yet, he flirts with the woman? Whaaaaat?

Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.Jack is sent to New York to spy on the British soldiers who have laid siege to the city. His orders are to find out as much as he can, and report back as soon as he can. He never expected to be faced with the most gorgeous man he had ever met, the one who might make Jack totally forget what happened to the last man he loved. Eli makes no bones about who he wants, and what he wants and he will go about getting both by an [...]

Terrific M/M Historical RomanceNever having read a M/M romance taking place during the American Revolution, I was a little skeptical about this one going in--but exceedingly happy at the end. Here is a book with all the right moves--historically accurate in setting, mores, style; craftily drawn and deeply conflicted characters; rip-roaring scenes on the streets, through the woodlands, and in the bedroom. And in the end, you could believe it might have happened.Jack West (on the left on the cover [...]

Rating: 3.75 starsReview to follow at Scattered Thoughts and Rogue WordsC provided by Silvia Violet Books in exchange for an honest review.

3.75 stars“Revolutionary Temptation” gives an insider look in the efforts and sacrifices of the rebel army during the American Revolution. The romance here is mostly forbidden because at those times being a homosexual got people hanged. So, yeah this story is not your typical romance where the MCs meet, fall in love and live happily ever after. The MCs here continuously court danger and death to be with each other while also trying to free their country from the British Empire.Captain Jack W [...]

Well the Revolutionary War isn't my favorite historical period, still this integrated things into the heart of the war in an interesting way. I enjoyed that this wasn't all about the battles, but was more about a spying intrigue. The placement in time was well done, but focused on a story that could believably fit within the historical context without disrupting the history as we know it.I liked that this wasn't a love at first sight sort of story. Sure there was a ton of attraction between thes [...]

I don't like to write negative reviews, but I didn't enjoy this very much. I'm shocked the average rating is so high here. It was pretty dull throughout with no real plot other than Jack and Eli's relationship and a lot of sex scenes. So many sex scenes. Then at like 75%, there was (what felt like) a sudden crisis, and Eli was in danger. Then, although I understand why it served the plot, we got two extra points of view, when up to that point it had been alternating between Jack and Eli. I don't [...]

Solid historical gay romanceThis is a solid gay historical romance, set during the American Revolutionary War. The author weaves real historical events with fictional characters in a believable plot. It’s my opinion that the author consciously chose to focus on the conflict that Jack has when he meets Eli, who openly flaunts his flamboyancy much to the chagrin of the norms of the time. If Eli were a true historical character, his mannerisms and dress would’ve been muted for those times, but [...]

Review can be read at It's About The Book3.5 starsA novel set during the American Revolution? Complete with spies, espionage, danger, deceit and oh yeah… conflicted men? Count me in! I appreciate all of the research that makes such a project authentic. The beginning of this book sucked me in. The detailing of the revolutionary troop morale, movements and difficulties was fascinating; as were Jack’s moral dilemmas. I felt as though I were right there in the streets of New York and the trenches [...]

Eli and Jack are both bought under the wing of Constance Sullivan as they train to be spies for the Rebels.Eli and Jack are attracted to one another but have to be very careful as homosexuality is illegal and punishable by death if caught.I really enjoyed this historical tale. I liked both MCs and even Constance.Yes, I was warned about the MF sex in this mainly Mm book but it was a paragraph or so and didnt really bother me.Reading the bit at the end by the author it seems that there will be mor [...]

“Forbidden pleasures. Who makes the rules? Can that line be crossed? What could we truly be and at what cost? Do you see what I see?” ~ Todd FultonOne of the most difficult challenges in anyone's life is to “compromise” their ideals for the greater good. Captain Jack West, of 'Revolutionary Temptation' by Silvia Violet, is an honorable soldier in General Washington's army. Jack has fought valiantly on the battlefield for the cause of American independence against Great Britain and has be [...]

A mix of my two favorite genres, m/m romance and historical fiction. I loved the main characters of Eli and Jack and the intrigue of living in British occupied New York, while working for the rebel cause.

Awesome readIt a story I am sure happens in any war situation between people but the way it was told here was intriguing, spelldinding to the point you could it set the book down the balance of sexual and nonsexual was very we done and in a way it today a story of it on

This one didn't do it for me.
