Happily ever after!True stories of hope & compassion written with the humor that comes through adversity. Hope Morgan has captured my heart with her excellent story- telling ability. 5 Stars, hands down!
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL READ!I actually downloaded this book thinking it was fiction, but soon realized after I began reading that it was all too true. And hilarious. And sad. It was beautifully written to add humor to a situation that so many people see as depressing (I actually laughed out loud a few times as I was reading this on a 3 hour tour bus trip). But the most profound feeling this book left me with was joy. My heart is so happy for every washed up and defective dog, chicken, pig, duck, m [...]
I've spent two decades in the pet rescue world and I've volunteered at the local (nationally know) senior pet sanctuary. I know Hope's world. I also champion the seniors. I rarely foster or adopt an animal under the age of five, and I have multiples at any given time. Most of what she writes is spot-on, and I laughed out loud at some of the pets' stories. When she began to describe the chickens and goats, though, the word "hoarder" crept into the back of my mind. I do recommend this read to anyo [...]
I wanted to like this book more than I did. The author appears to be a wonderful caring person. Her story is inspiring. She does good work. All of that is great. Pity she is not a better storyteller. The book was perfectly readable, however I never engaged the way I would have expected given the subject matter.I doubt that I will ever re-read the book. Partially because she spends a lot of time lamenting the ills of the world, and given who is likely to be reading the book in the first place, thi [...]
Self congratulatory but at times amusingMs Morgan is a step above an animal hoarder. While she does provide hospice care for elderly Ill small dogs, she collects other farm animals in a Willy-nilly fashion chickens, goats and a pig! She stores deceased animals in the freezer "next to the ice cream" I have it three stars because she does have a way with words that had me chuckling while shaking my head.
Little Old Dog SanctuaryThis is a special kind of different book. It really touched my heart. It is good to know there are places and people like this in this world. If you have ever loved a dog and watched as it crossed Rainbow Bridge, this book will mean something to you. It has funny parts, sad parts, and encouraging parts. I'm glad I read it, and I recommend it you. God bless you Hope Morgan.
Animals United with HopeI really like stories about the lives of people who are doing wonderful and important things for the world of old and unloved creatures. This book was sad at times because people are so cruel to animals and yet filled with the joy of each wonderful animal given the gift of care and respect. Some had too many issues, but the rest are part of the story of the Little Old Dog Sanctuary, fantastic.
Very heart warming.I just wish there were more people like you and Erik.I have a12 year old cat and a 8 year old Pom\ Chi mix. I can't even imagine putting them in a shelter or a different home. I abhor people who do this to their older animals. The book was a mixture of "happy" tears and "sad" tears. Thanks for sharing your stories with us!
Heaven on Earth. What an amazing story about an amazing family. Not only is their home a sanctuary for old dogs but all animals. I laughed out loud and was moved to tears. Ms. Morgan, you are a living saint. Thank you for sharing your story. And thank you for your gift of love and Hope.
Little old dog SanctuaryThis woman Is a wonder! She has to have something few women have ! For one thing a unusual good husband! Next and more importantly a heart of love for mankind! God bless you Hope Morgan!!
This was really a fun read. It tells the story of a woman who rescues older small dogs and gives them a home to spend their final time in. Was sweet while still being realistic about the problems she encountered. Parts were sad but overall it was an interesting read.
No excitementI have a bracelet that says "I care", but I also suffer from two-hand syndrome. Which means although I want to, I can only do so much, and only so fast. Kind of like the author. Pets and people, the needs never end.
Wonderful bookI loved this book and Hope's recounting of some of her dogs and her life. I hope all is well with her sanctuary and her life. I finished the book but know that I already miss her and her dogs.
Great read!Loved this book. A very easy read. It made me laugh many times. Glad that there are people in this world that care.
The perfect book to counter balance vet school stress.
Cute bookAs an animal lover, I found this book uplifting. The story of love at the end of life is heartwarming and beautiful.
Nice, entertaining read but could really use some editing to tighten it up.
Well written, lots of fun. I enjoyed it and admire her and her wonderful husband. Keep up this most important work
Kudos to the author for making a sanctuary for old dogs, but spare me the details. I was grossed out more than necessary.
Fantastic I rarely rate a book, but I absolutely loved this one. I couldn't put it down. Being a dog owner, I have much respect for the author.
