I would definitely recommend this cute little book for children. The moral is sound and the art is beautiful.Note: I received a free copy of this book from the publisher. This review and rating are my own honest opinion and have not been influenced in any manner.
'Centurion and Emperador' by Rob Schneider, Patricia Schneider and Francisco Herrera is a storybook based on two real life horses who were rescued. And yes, it's that Rob Schneider. The Gamble Ranch has lots of farm animals, and no horses, until one day some storks get lost in a storm and deliver them to the ranch by mistake. From a young age, they are trained to run on the track, because that is what horses do. The problem is that these two horses don't run like other horses. There is something [...]
I received a copy of this ebook from NetGalley.I thought this was a brief digital comic was delightful. I've been a fan of horses from a very young age, and I know I would have loved delving into this book as a child. The artwork is beautiful, the story itself is delightful, and it enforces the moral that we all manage to find our own way to succeed in life.
Very Disney-esque drawings. A good story about finding your talents even if it's not what everyone else does. And a real-life story.
A story about “The James Brown of four-legged animals.” Yup, you read that right: dancing horses. The horses are real; you can make up your own mind as to whether this story actually happened.Gamble Ranch has a duck who wants to be a momma. The storks deliver horses, and the two threads collide. Like reindeer, the other horses make fun of them for not running right. After coming in last at the local race, they heard music and couldn’t keep from dancing. They’re a big hit, and the other h [...]
A really quite charming volume for the young, this picture book hits all the right notes. When storks bring two heavy loads to the farm they prove to be baby horses that a broody mother duck takes under her wing, but they can't find their aim in life until they (a) lose a race, and (b) kick back and dance to the band afterwards. In real life one of them was an adopted victim of animal abuse, but here the simplification allows their tale to become a sister book to The Ugly Duckling, and it's a ve [...]
This book was okay, and kind of cute in it's way. But it pretty much skimmed over every part of the story; you actually learn more from the description than you do from reading the book. The graphics are clear and bright; but the Mama Goose looks like Daisy Duck, and what in the world is up with the horses' ears?
Very cute little story.
