A totally readable story about a woman who was taken by the Kiowa Indians. It does a great job of portraying both sides on the issue of Whites and Indians. I finished it in 24 hours, unusual for me!

A white woman is taken prisoner after the Kiowa tribe kills her son. A journey never imagined starts for her when Satanta, the chief makes her 'his woman'. As a strong woman she remains so with the chief, who amazingly allows her to do so. Fighting for herself, her granddaughters and the memory of her son, she finds her thoughts and feelings turn directions never before thought of. I truly enjoy Cynthia Haseloff's writing. I enjoy history and in this story the fight of a strong women. Her fictio [...]

Brought home from a vacation where Mom and Dad both read this book and said it was "very good." Strong, Compelling The main characters, especially Adrienne Chastain and Satanta, were well-developed. The horror of what happened was not sugar-coated, although no words can ever really describe what this time in our history was like for the people who lived - and loved, in spite of their circumstances.

Tries to give both sides of the story of a white women captured by Indians. But hard to believe you could ever love someone who killed your daughter and son before your eyes.

Totally predictable - very slow.
