3.5/5.0Readers will enjoy this intriguing ghost story, sprinkled with love in this rich Virginia read! Read full review in the 2015 July/August issue of InD'tale Magazine.
This novel is a Southern gothic, a paranormal that combines mystery and romance.Setting is beautifully described and very much a part of the book. Ashby Overton is the first person narrator and main character in the novel. Her character is well-developed. She has previously inherited Overhome, a horse farm estate in Southwest, Virginia that dates back over two hundred years to Colonial times. There is much history here. Ashby also has a large family with complicated relationships.Ashby is gettin [...]
(request submitted by author for an honest critique) Thank goodness I am only an "observer" to the spookiness surrounding Overhome because if this was actually happening to me. underpants would've been changed more than once. Ominousvoices, strange noises, angry spirits, and so. Nope, I think I will pass on the ghostbusting business, thank you very much. Through the Twilight Zone occurences, what I most loved about BTS was the historical aspects of this novel. I liked to mention the special note [...]

It is up to her to find a way to save her horse farm.Ashby sorts through mounds of bills run up by her aunt. Rather than holding a grudge, Ashby decides the only ways to save Overhome are to sell off 50 acres and expand her boarding and horse training business. When s [...]
This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I wasn’t sure what to expect, but after reading Miss Coryell’s well-written paranormal mystery, I was not disappointed. This is not a fast read, but one to be savored. Ashby and Luke, the main couple in the story, are engaged and I enjoyed their sweet relationship and the comfortable companionship they shared. If you enjoy well-developed characters, peppered with mystery and gripping accounts of the American Civil War, along with a not so [...]
Even more history, paranormal pursuit and classic Southern gothic intrigue than Red, Red Rose, it's prequel. Beneath the Stones follows main character Ashby Overton into her post-college days and explores even more layers of the mystery and intrigue of Overhome estate.
An adequate follow-up to A Red, Red Rose -- but sequels frequently suffer in comparison to the first. Maybe her third book in this trilogy will be stronger?
