*** 3 stars just for the sake of Father Sebastian Morales and the writing only!*** WheeeI still don' know how to rate this one.The cover is absolutely gorgeous.!It was starting good, until I met Ian. He seemed like a a brokenhearted guy, need some tender care and all.But , from the start I dislike this whiney and drama queen guy. It's like, what??? You crying over an asshole bf who's obviously used you for sex and your money? For 4 years and you still told him that you're still in love with him a [...]

I was looking at the books on my Kindle and when I read the summary for this book I thought to myself "why haven't I read this yet?" This book started off okay but right from the start there was something odd about the writing; it felt stilted in a way. It just wasn't written in a way that most books I read are. Around 35% I got bored with the story. It seemed like we were told about every single day in Ian and Sebastian's life and that was doing nothing for the plot. I started to skim and never [...]

Funny, I've dated several guys in my past that either, graduated seminary college, was about to leave his Baptist church and was leaving his Pentecostal Church, so this wasn't surprising to me. I'm just hoping there is a follow up to this book, there is a lot left to be told. Great story

Damn! I might burn in hell for this one, but I am going with a smile!!! Lol!!! ;)

Original Blog Post: multitaskingmommas/201The Ancient House of Cards is an extraordinarily powerful, controversial and yet truly moving story of a man questioning his faith. Father Sebastian Morales had always known he was going to serve God in any way he was capable of. Growing up Catholic, there was no doubt he would eventually go to the seminary and eventually be ordained a priest. He had questioned his sexuality in the past, but he was devoted and faithful and so went on to be the best he co [...]

Best part of the book were the words of wisdom from Sister Mary Elizabeth.

Reviewed by Brian DouglasAncient House of Cards by Bryan T. ClarkRight from the start you sense that Ian Stephens is a troubled soul who is desperate to find happiness with the right guy. Based on the decisions Ian makes and the men he has dated you get the feeling that this very need to be loved is what makes finding love so difficult for him. Ian is a handsome, self-centered young man with a formidable mother who would love to see Ian married and giving her grandchildren. She won’t accept th [...]

Reviewed for Rainbow Gold Reviews. A copy was provided in exchange for an honest review. When I first read the blurb I was very interested in reading this book. It’s not the first book I’ve read about a priest or religious figurehead in a gay romance. I have respect for priests and the priesthood even with it’s muddled past, so I’m not looking to see a fall from grace necessarily, but to see a love so strong that it overcomes barriers. Sometimes, though, love is not enough. For Ian and S [...]

I chose this book because I can't resist stories with spiritual or religious themes. For the most part, I enjoyed it.As with any story, my favorite part is always the characters. The people populating this story were interesting and diverse, and none of them felt flat to me. I liked reading about their various struggles, all of which were relatable. Their human failings made them more, not less, likable and intriguing.I appreciated that the characters were not all standard, white Americans. Ther [...]
