Here’s a question you may be asking yourself: Do I (Giovanni) really groove on this stuff? The answer is simply I enjoy good writing, plain and simple. And if that means that I follow that credo to read a work about the “Plain People”, my friends the Amish, then that is where I will go. I also knew going into this it didn’t include anything on Big Daddy Abel, EZ, Hez, Jake “The Plummer”, or any of the other “Amish Outlaws”. Be forewarned. But I digress yet again, sorry.Melding tw [...]
The Stranger is a smart introduction to this ongoing short story series. The relationships of the characters are solidly defined over the backdrop of a tragic accident. The point of view is held mostly to Ava and we experience events almost dream like as she slips between stints consciousness. The authors make fine use of dialogue and the characters speak how an "outsider" would expect them to. The real crux is the mystery man that Ava claims pulled her from the wreck. We meet Ava, a young Amish girl, in the hospital. She has just survived a tragic accident between buggy and car. A mystery is introduced at the same time. Who is the stranger that pulled her from the wreckage. The authors do a great job of showing us the relationship of Ava and her brothers. I look forward to seeing this story develop.
Very authentic feel and a real pleasure to read. This writing team hit the nail on the head with this. I am looking forward to devouring the rest of this series.
What's up with this book? Did I get just a sample or something? It was just one scene and that was it. Waste of time and money.
Cute little intro to the volumes
Good story, short.
