That went wrong fast.I guess most of this will have to be hidden in spoiler tags, since I only really have to complain about one big thing and it occurred sometime after midpoint.(view spoiler)[I am not on board with Mason’s anger at Adam, of all people. It’s not like he didn’t try to tell Mason when it was still relevant. So yeah. Not happy with this development or its consequences. In this situation it seems to me that Adam is at least in as much need of comfort as Mason, since he had to [...]
2.5 stars, rounded up.The weakest part ofThe Pregnant Mateseries yetI didn't feel any chemistry betweenAdam, a human, andMason, an Alpha werewolf :(The plot with the wholebuying a 10-year slave contractand Adam's constant stomach sickness, and almost non-existent pack life, and a very weird"black moment"at the end - well, it didn't convince me at all :(Still, the sex was very hot and I really like this Author and her shifter stories so I'll continue with The Pregnant Mates ;)
Warning: rambling review to follow:Contrived, contrived, contrived!!Well this book really pissed me off! Mason is an alpha who is reunited with his long lost love Adam. There were misunderstandings and family obligations that separated the two but now that they are together, alls well that ends well, right? Except Mason loses his mind and acts unreasonably in reaction to the news that Adam was pregnant in the past with his child and lost it. Mason and Adam have been reunited for TWO DAYS, and Ma [...]
Real dafuqeryI first read this series years ago. Completely forgot about it until it came up on a library search on my device. As I read them again I'm reminded of all the problems I noted before and am finding new issues too. There is of course a certain amount of suspension of disbelief needed when reading paranormal. It's a requirement. However, there are some things here I just can't excuse. If the author is going to write about gay men she needs to do some research. Just because a man prefer [...]
Shelving this series for now. Was in the mood for some mpreg with some story fun. Not really getting what I wanted out of the series.
One small blip for me this time. I was under the impression that an Omega wolf evolved due to the lack of female wolves and in this book there were at least four, that were mentioned, though Mason's wife, mother and mother-in-law were killed. Of course it wasn't definitely mentioned that they were wolves but from the allusions to Mason, his family and his wife and her family, it felt as if they were. Back on point though, if omegas evolved because of the lack of female wolves, its only logical t [...]
I liked the approach to the pregnancy this time around. We were kind of kept in suspense for awhile and I actually enjoyed it! However, Masons reaction to the news of Adams original pregnancy was not my favorite. He was far from supportive and loving. Adam had been holding onto this for 6 years and even believed that mason intentionally snubbed and rejected him. So masons reaction of anger and blame was kind of annoying. Poor Adam :-(. But of course it all worked out in the end. kind of. We did [...]
I have finally given up trying to understand how pups are being born in this universe. Now I am just going to read about it. In this book I would have liked to see the fight between the vamps and the werewolves and to find out why Adam was so sick for the last six years. Why didn’t someone send him to a healer? This is a different pack from the one we saw in the previous books and is where Brutus was sent. I wonder if he will ever get a book. Finally, Scott and Jessie’s book is the next one. [...]
Hmmmmting. Who knew a werewolf could get a regular human pregnant? Interesting difference in the lore from what I've seen in other male-pregnancy stories.Anyway, I liked Adam and Mason, although I kind of wish they'd done a little more talking instead of sulkingey might have resolved their issues sooner. I'm also eager to know what gap pens with the vampire challenge Mason issued and whether Adam can be cured from his strange stomach ailment after the baby is born. So, I really hope these things [...]
Adam and Mason knew each other in the past. Seven years later they meet again when Adam decides to auction himself off to pay off a debt. I don’t want to tell a ton because that will kind of spoil some big parts of the story. Anyways, the book does deal with male pregnancy. If you aren’t into that, this book and this series is definitely not for you. It is for me though. I absolutely love this genre and this series is right up my alley.
There was this brief moment where the characters in bed switched positions and switched back again, a little more than just a name mixup. Then there is the matter of the challenge Wtf? We just skip to the book (Lol, I see now. The challenge continues to the next book. I recant my negative star for this.)
i've read four of these and i still don't understand how a man births a baby.was that explained, or was i just too squicked out to notice?
Weak writing. The series started stong but with every new book it dwindles more and more. Hopefully book 4 and the rest of the series will pick up where book 1 left off.
