The seventh book in the Island of Fog series is another welcome addition. Robinson once again delivers a story that drives the series forward. The dual narrative shows how Hal deals with his newest hairy predicament alongside the early adventures of Chase. I especially liked the wonderful twists as they sought out the sphinxes and found my blood racing in the sequences where Hal battled with his inner demons. Robinson lays excellent groundwork for the next two books, setting up a new status quo [...]
I absolutely loved this book. The plot was well thought out, it moved at a fast past pace, and I felt everything the characters did. I will be reading every Island of Fog book that comes out - may the series last for years!! I highly recommend this book (and series) for readers of all ages.
I have to change my mind -> I am so pleased the series isn't over yet :) -> great book !So as mentioned in my last review for Chamber of ghosts, I wasn't too pleased with the end(still a great book!).First I didn't like that it went on instead of tying together all lose ends when it was at it's best, than I also disliked the new problem. Now that I read the next (this) book, I have to say that I am pleased we get some more pages for the tying together and the introduced problem actually did [...]
This seventh book in the series kept me hanging on until the final moment. I love the moral issues that it casually raises, having the characters examine their own motives as well as recognise others' viewpoints and perceptions without feeling the slightest bit 'preachy'. There is so much action and adventure interwoven with stories from the past which combine to make a book that is difficult to put down while creating valid and varied characters who hold it together. Overall, an excellently cra [...]
A satisfying continuation of Keith Robinson's excellent "Island of Fog" series, this book deals, primarily, with Hal's struggle against the wolf within and the gang's search for a set of long-lost shapeshifter twins. Although much information is given in "Valley of Monsters," the author keeps the story moving at a brisk and entertaining pace so the reader never feels bogged down with backstory. If you, like me, have enjoyed all of the "Island of Fog" books up to this point, you can rest assured [...]
