Wow! I have to step up my blender game. Usually I use it for smoothies, which I'm currently in a rut and need smoothie inspiration. So many wonderful new ideas and things to make. I did make a cheesecake once in a blender and thought I was just being lazy (did not want to wash a bunch of bowls, etc). Glad to see all the other things you can make in a blender. I grabbed this one from the library and plan to hold on to it for some time.
I forgot to review this!I Loved this book!!I am a Vitamix newbie & got stuck in my pigeon hole as to what to blend My favorite this summer was a watermelon margarita My family, just kind of threw it in and blended it! Great smoothies etc but why were they not as smooth as the Vitamix demo guy? WELL!! OMG!! I got my answer! Plus some!!At first when you start reading this book via ebook, you think "hey! this was supposed to be recipes!" It is!! Don't worry! But first she walks you through the [...]
I've tried several recipes from this cookbook and can say that while I liked it, I didn't love it. The recipes have kind of been hit-or-miss, as some turned out great and were delicious (tastes-like-ice-cream kale smoothie) while others did not turn out at all (the fluffy gf pancakes). A lot of the recipes either call for ingredients that I typically don't have on hand, or they just seem really involved -- so even though they sound good, I haven't made them. There is still at least one recipe th [...]
The Blender Girl 100 Gluten-free, Vegan Recipes by Tess Masters is an unique book of delicious recipes for gluten vegan smoothies, snacks, desserts, sauces and meals. It is also a wealth of information of how she began to be the Blender Girl as well as what foods to combine, super foods, and even how to get milk from nuts which was interesting. Tess Masters book is full of great ideas and recipes for those who want to be healthy or need to eat gluten free.I found this book to be interesting, uni [...]
I'm looking forward to trying the recipes, but some of the science is thrown around a bit. For example, while I appreciate the fact that an anti-nutrient is a real thing, just saying that's what in the soaking liquid from nuts is not at all the whole story. Some of the other stuff (pH, raw foods, etc) live a bit more on the unproven periphery of science, so I'm a little skeptical, but anything is worth a try. And: the focus on eat more vegetables is appreciated.
I adore smoothies and I would drink it all day long, without eating crude food, because you can blend almost anything.Blender girl book is great because it explains all about blending different types of food, seasonal, superfood additions and how to use it and what are they good for.I tried smoothies from the book and I love it. Because sometimes same blend combination can be boring.
Disclaimer: This ARC was given to me for free in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley. This book was really cool. It had tips on blender buying and caring for your blender. There was a lot of different kinds of blending recipes of not only smoothies, but entres that involve the blender but had solid food in the meal. If that makes any sense.
The smoothies and soups in this book look delicious. I am just too lazy to make them. "Soak nuts beforehand" "roast veggies first for more complex flavor" "blend in batches" Ain't nobody got time for that!
Absolutely loved this book. See my full review here - livinginthekitchenwithpuppies.
Not really for me, but for more of a food purest, it would probably be awesome. The tips and pictures were really nice and the book was a great size.
LOVE the information in the book but have yet to try recipes. They look yummy though. I'll come back and change my rating once I've tried a good amount of them.
Great recipes. Very simpleMethod of meal preparation.
Concise and compact, and great resources!
I’m thankful for the review copy of a book that introduced me to Tess Masters, The Blender Girl, this cook book and her blog by the same name.I've started working a different job that has allowed me more time in the kitchen and less time driving to and from work. I was thrilled to explore this new way of cooking. I liked how this author first talks about What’s the perfect blend for you? Where she discusses her journey to getting healthy and what she learned along the way. Not everything wor [...]
The Blender Girl, Tess Masters, is known for all of her concoctions in her blender, but this book isn’t just about blender recipes. While blender recipes may be the may focus of the book, it also delves into the reasons behind why it’s important to be eating our fruits and veggies. Yes, this book is a vegan-focused book, but Tess isn’t promoting a vegan lifestyle for everyone. She’s not a one-size-fits-all type of person. She advocates listening to your own body to determine what it real [...]
If you're looking for a regimented what to eat when, this book is not for you. This book celebrates "bio-diversity" — encouraging readers to decide what works best for them. I like that it doesn't preach eating the latest food fad. Instead, the book explains how different foods affect body functions. Information is easy to read and understand. I was especially interested in the importance of sprouting and soaking. I also appreciated insight on why certain food choices were made by another autho [...]
Lots of really good recipes, everything from drinks, smoothies, and sauces to main dishes and desserts, gluten free and, of course vegan. Followed the website, checked the book out from local library, and used it enough to finally buy my own copy. Starts with choosing a blender, caring for it and includes tips for using and maintaining your investment. Recipes grouped according to types, smoothies/shakes, appetizers/snacks, salads, soups, mains, desserts, drinks/juices/tonics, condiments. Good i [...]
I admit it; I have the Blender Girl's first cookbook. I read it, enjoyed it, forgot about it.This time around, I feel enthused enough to whip out my blender. Although the smoothie recipes are made entirely in the blender, other recipes expand the equipment list to include a food processor andrhaps the faint of heart should settle into a comfy kitchen chair for thisa non-electric wisk. The author's recipe titles lure me closer to my blender. "Avocado Avenger," "A Date in a Nut," and the most atten [...]
I just reviewed Tess Masters' new book, The Blender Girl. It's a beautiful soft-back book with great pictures and easy-to-follow recipes. It was honestly too healthy for me personally, partly because I live in a rural area where it's difficult to access the super-nutritious ingredients, and partly because I'm a much more simple cook But people that are looking for gluten-free and vegan recipes will enjoy the 100 recipes. I found the "love your blender" section particularly helpful, and learning [...]
The Blender Girl is an awesome book that taught me so much this is more than just a cookbook this is a guide to healthy eating. I loved the knowledge of food that I was able to get along with some key points about digestion. I have been gluten free for about 2 years now and have loved it. I have Celiac and that was my reason for going gluten free but cutting out dairy and meat have been a must as well. The Blender girl gives not just recipes for blended food but also recipes for all healthy food [...]
Extremely helpful for any one from novice to advance user. Very detailed information on how to. Much of a book of general information on juicing and blending. Further in depth information about related issues such as what can be done one step further for preparation and knowledge of food. One of the best i have come across book on the subject.Advance techniques and such as sprouting and very resourceful book to become advance user. Experimentation is on its highest. The author know what she is d [...]
Haven't tried any recipes yet, but I really like the tone and information in this book. Her interspersed essays about food pairings, probiotics, and nutrition are really useful and accessible. There are a variety of recipes that I can't wait to try! Definitely bookmarking and I think I'll be trying a whole bunch of them. I might even have to get a paper version, since it's much easier to have in the kitchen as a reference.
If you can blend it, she's got a recipe for it. It was actually kind of amazing reading through this cookbook and seeing how many varied and interesting recipes she came up with that required blending of some kind. I especially loved her smoothie and cold soup recipes but you may enjoy all of her gluten-free, vegan recipes from appetizer through dessert. Contains gorgeous photos, easy to understand recipes, and ingredient sources.(Provided by publisher)
I borrowed this book from a friend and quickly ordered my own. Since it is a cookbook with supporting details on how to eat for optimum health, it will be a reference book to read and retread! I look forward to some of her yummy looking recipes. By the way, don't think it's just smoothies, because it is much more.
I like her blog so it probably goes without saying that I would like her book. There are some interesting recipes and helpful hints (like soaking). Although it is a vegan, the drinks, sauces and other recipes would appeal to a paleo lifestyle by adding more variety. Overall a good book for those interested in blending.
Make it all in your blender? Really? That is what Tess Masters sayss easy, its simple, and healthy. You can make smoothies, ice cream, soups, juices, and the foundation of just about any meal. She supplies you with information about blenders and how to use the various functions to make your stomach happy. These recipes are all gluten-free and vegan. Do yourself a favor, buy a blender!
This book has some very tasty and very healthy smoothie recipes. My only issue is that the recipes have some very unusual and varied ingredients which makes keeping your cupboards stocked with the right things a little challenging! I results are worth it though! If you like smoothies but get tired of the same old thing this book is for you!
I like that Tess Masters explains what type of blender that you need and how to prep your ingredients to make the most of your blender. She also proves that blenders can be used for other thins besides smoothies. To see full review, check out The Celebrity Cafe
I really liked reading the explanations behind her way of eating and I'm really excited to try some of her recipes. I've been using my blendtec for about 3 years but her ideas will really add to my repertoire. I'm regretting buying the kindle version (just because it was on sale) because I know I'll refer back to her charts and recipes over and over.
One of the most aesthetically attractive cookbooks I've read in awhile. I want to write a gardening book that's as beautifully styled as this book. Found a new favorite recipe that will be a regular in the rotation - her Cheerful Chimichurri Bowl is awesome!
