I received this book from the author, signed, so I was really exited to read it. Gold Manor Ghost House sounds like a promising read with the thrill of having some ghost and some supernatural romance. Honestly I didn't like the books as much as I wanted to. The Plot. I really liked the plot to this book. I thought the idea was unique and new. The unique part of the book was the whole idea of dreams and reality combining. I also liked the whole Haunted House too, and that there were ghost involve [...]

This was actually I nice story, I was really looking forward to getting to know more about this ghost house and the special abilities Anna had. I started reading about Four Families and some curse and I was really intrigued. But then… holes. There was not much explanation. I could kind of understand why certain relationships developed very quick, but I was a little bothered by it. Not too much, somewhere there is a kind of rationality to the fast relationship. What bothered me though is the wa [...]

Wow. I did not think this book would be as good as it was. I have just been reading books on my Kindle that have started to pile up. Honestly it scared me some too. I read it at night if that helps explain anything. I don't think the book was meant to be scary. I am just that lame. Adam and Anna were great together. Their relationship totally worked. The ups and downs of the whole book were very exciting and I could not put the book down. Corey, you are on the bottom of my list. He was just supe [...]

I was pleasantly surprised on how much I enjoyed this book. It is a great YA paranormal read. The characters are very likable and the supernatural elements are unique but still mostly a mystery to both the reader and the female protagonist, Anna. One thing that is a little of a draw back is that the reader is left with a lot of unanswered questions especially about the paranormal world of the Four families and the supernatural war between them. Hopefully the author will clear up a lot of this co [...]

I won this book from a " giveaway", I was extremely excited to win it, After reading the blurb about it I knew I had to read it no matter what, As soon as I finished the book I was reading I opened this one and I honestly had a hard time putting it down, I got sucked into Annas character and just got lost with the story. If I say much more I'll end up spoiling it I honestly am throwing it at my best friend tomorrow and demanding she read it next, It was much more then I expected and I loved ever [...]

Well, as the author of Gold Manor Ghost House, I may be a bit biased. I love the characters, the setting, what's really going on. I love that I can see myself writing many books with these characters, caught up in the everyday exciting world of being on a hit TV show, and the other worldly war of the Four Families. Oh, and of course, the love story of Anna Rose and Adam (and Corey?).

This was one of those stories where the premise fell flat. It sounds super promising! Ghosts, TV show set hauntings, the supernatural invading a show based on the supernatural. But mostly what we get is a will-they-won't-they (and we know they will) love story, and everything else takes a backseat. While there seem to be real ghosts, they are absolutely never explained. The supernatural is tied up in an ancient history about Four Families that have various brands of magic due to an old curse. An [...]

(This review can be found on my blog The (Mis)Adventures of a Twenty-Something Year Old Girl).I have to admit that the blurb is what drew me in to this book. While it wasn't really that ghostly, it was still a good book.Usually any title with the word "ghost" in it captures my attention, and it was no different for this book. The title references the name of the tv show the characters are in. It also reflects real life for them.I don't like the cover at all. It's not very captivating nor does it [...]

Originally posted on Skeleton Key Reviews skeletonkeyreviews/?p=991I love a good story where the main characters meet in their dreams before meeting in real life. I like the thought that there is someone out there that we are all fated to be with. But I don’t think we necessarily always find and/or end up with that one. Sometimes I wonder if we have met them and didn’t make the right decision at that given time to end up with them. Perhaps we zigged when we should have zagged.Anna and Adam a [...]

Describe this book in five words or less- New Twist on Paranormal Romance. What I liked about it in three paragraphs- 1. The pacing was great! The book started off with intrigue that gave you minimal details, then built off that. This was a great strategy because the action and suspense keeps readers on the edge of their seats as well as keeps them from putting the book down till they are finished. 2. Relationships were developed in a realistic fashion. The romance was great. Brown played the "do [...]

Gold Manor Ghost House by Merry Brown. YA Books, May 2013.Anna Rose Ellingwood gets her big break when she is cast as one of the characters on TeenTV’s new fall drama: Ghost House. Leaving her home in Hollywood, she moves to a small town in Tennessee to start filming with the rest of the cast. Everything seems normal, until Anna discovers that the house, Gold Manor, that they’re filming in may be haunted. Besides that, there is a bigger conflict that Anna must face. A supernatural war betwee [...]

I Loved this book! It was actually a nice surprise from the author when she contacted me to let me know that while I didn't win the Giveaway that she was still willing to send me a paperback or Ebook copy for me to review. Being a lover of physical books before Ebook (though I am gradually learning to somewhat enjoy the occasional Ebook)I asked for the paperback, & like magic, two days later a copy of Gold Manor Ghost House was signed & siting in my mailbox with a sweet note from the au [...]

I received this book for free from the author, and it was a very quick read (either that, or I read way too fast). The book was an interesting read. The book prologue started with a girl watching someone she loves get murdered. It continued with the rest of the story, with the girl getting her dream job, finding her dream love, and finding out a big secret. It was an overall an O.K. read. That being said, there were flaws in the overall story. While it is understandable that the secret world Anna [...]

This novel really surprised me. For a YA novel it was very well written. “Gold Manor Ghost House” is Merry Brown’s second novel. It is a great YA/paranormal. Anna has spent her life dreaming to be an actress, and she’s finally got her big break, but life on set, and her world in general, is anything then what it seems. For a YA novel Brown has superb character development. This isn’t a superficial, high school drama filled book. Anna is strong, intelligent, and willing to fight for what [...]

*I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*This book has such an interesting concept. As a lover of performing arts, I was especially drawn in by the blurb. Not to mention, I love a good mystery once and while! Unfortunately, this book didn’t exactly live up to my expectations. The plot was gripping for the first few chapters, but from there, it only went downhill. The plot got very confusing, which isn’t always bad, but in this case, it made the book a bit boring. [...]

I loved this book! I have read the author's other series, The Knowers, and thought that they would be hard to top, but Author Merry Brown did it with this book! I am sooo looking forward to reading book 2 in the series and will be picking that up soon! I enjoyed the way in which the author set up the details of the story, she painted such a vivid picture for the reader that it felt like they were a part of the story. The author also introduced the characters to us in a way in which the reader fe [...]

Disclaimer=I won this book on , have no ties to the author, and love ya paranormal books.I was so excited to finally win a book on . Ms Brown sent a very nice e-mail and wrote a very nice note with the book. I really wanted to love the book. I started it and was confused from the start. The author takes forever to get to any point. The characters are shallow. The story goes no where that I can follow. At the end if the book, I felt I knew less about the charaters and theme of the book than at th [...]

Love Love LOVE this book!! I just finished it and immediately downloaded The Knowers. I can't wait for the next installment. I do have to say that my jaw literally dropped when I read the one-year review listed here on GR. I honestly don't think that reviewer and I were reading the same novel. Every word of Gold Manor was eloquently written, every emotion perfectly articulated. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but a one-star rating is just wrong. And my disclaimer: I purchased the book [...]

I received a paperback copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. I had no prior association with this author or her work.I started reading in the very early morning hours as I could not sleep. Before I even realized it, I had read the first 11 chapters. The characters drew me in and the story kept me there. I reluctantly put it down at 5am as I needed some sleep. (What I really wanted was to keep reading, but my common sense kicked in.) I resumed reading as soon as I wa [...]

I enjoyed reading this supernatural mystery/romance book. I, generally, do not enjoy romance, but there was a good mix of the supernatural and mystery to keep me reading. Also, it was an easy read. I found myself not wanting to put the book down. While some parts were confusing and I had to read several times to make sense of it, I'd say this book is well written. The ending was great. It's clear this is a series and I like that not all of the mystery was cleared up in this first book. We learne [...]

I received this book free, and here are my opinions. Let us start with, O MY!!! I instantly felt the emotion between Anna and her lover (don't want to give it away). It was so passionately written and it doesn't take much to draw you in. I love all the smaller details that help you connect with the story, such as how Brian Gomez breaks up with her. Relatable isn't the only thing it has going for it, it is beautifully crafted, with characters I adore, and a plot line that chugs along at a nice st [...]

This book kept me entertained until the end, but I did not realize it was going to be part of a series until then. I kept wondering how it was going to end so abruptly without explaining everything. Then at the end I could tell this is only the beginning. I couldn't decide if I loved any of the characters, although they are all likeable in their own unique way. It is so hard to tell so far who is good and who is bad I almost don't want to get my heart broken by devoting myself to any of them yet [...]

Not what I expected, not at all. I thought this would be just another good ghost story with some other elements, like a tv-series being made. Instead I got romance (a lot), love-triangles (cliché), and some otherworldly stuff. I just felt like everything was just lumped together, a lot of time it made sense, but a lot of times it didn't.It was a good book though (for most). Just a shame it wasn't what I though it was.Though I tried to finish the book, I just couldn't get through the last pages. [...]

I really liked this book, I cannot wait for the next one. There is going to be anotherright? I love the characters and the fact that the smut factor was left out. I read mostly YA for that reason but too many YA include the things that I try to avoid. I was also glad that it was a different type of supernatural idea. Lastly, being a TN girl, I was happy that it was set in a familiar place. I did not even know it until I started the book, that was icing on my cake. Loosely similar to "The Ghost H [...]

I received the book for free through First Reads. I could hardly put this book down! And oh, there better be a continuation; there is so much unanswered. What exactly is Anna and all the others? Where are they going, and what will happen next? The book was very well written and captivating. Will Corey stay friends with Anna or turn on her? Can Anna really keep the love of her life? What will happen next must be answered. This book is one of my favorites so far, and I hope to be reading more soo [...]

I don't typically read a lot of YA novels. This was pretty good considering that. I felt that there was too much focus on the love triangle and not enough on the actual plot. And as soon as I was actually getting into the plot It ends. It definatly left me wanting more. See how the characters handle themselves now that they know a little more about themselves and what they are. I'm just hoping that the next book has more plot in it than this first. But you do get a good feel of who you are readi [...]

This is really 3.5 stars for me. Definitely better than 3, but not quite four. Sometimes the writing was a bit ehh (having to go back and reread a couple of paragraphs because characters changed from talking about the dream world to the real world for example). That being said I really liked the characters and I found the story compelling and it was a very quick readI read it in less than a day. It left quite a few questions unanswered since this is the beginning of a series, so I really look fo [...]

I thought from the book description this was going to be about a show being filmed in a haunted house and all the shenanigans that happen to the cast. I was disappointed because that was hardly the case. Instead you are led into this other supernatural world that isn't really explained due to the main character is being left in the dark herself. I really wanted to like this book and I really enjoyed the beginning, but I feel it got so far off track from my expectations, I was just disappointed o [...]

Although I did not win this book through a GoodReads' giveaway, I was contacted after the contest. I received this book from the author in exchange for a fair review. Thank you so much!I really enjoyed the concept of this book and am definitely looking forward to reading the next installment. My only criticism would be that I wished there was more information given at the beginning of the book. I felt like some of the relationships seemed rushed because we (the readers) did not have adequate bac [...]
