If you follow my blog or my activity on , you may have noticed I reviewed book two of the Welcome to Redemption series before reviewing book one. Somehow I managed to read the books in reverse. Normally the review order wouldn’t concern me but this case is an exception. You see, book two reveals the climactic scenes in A Fair of the Heart. Having read the books in reverse, I am left questioning how much of my enjoyment was curtailed by this disclosure. To Rogers’ credit, I really like the pr [...]

This is the first book in a series of 6. It may have had 200ish pages on my Nook but it felt more like a Novella or short story. I think that is because while this was a sweet story - there is a lot we could have learned about these characters.Lauren is a single mother, and Caleb is a carpenter who comes to her house for a haircut. An attraction is felt right away. In exchange for attacking her "fix-it" list around the house Lauren offers Caleb home cooked meals. Soon Caleb's heart is taken with [...]

I picked this book up as a freebie for a reading challenge not expecting much. What I found was a sweet story about two people finding love and in the process finding themselves again. I love the small town feel of books like this and I have always been a sucker for romances where a single mum finds a man that loves her kids as much as he loves her. I just find it so sweet and it pulls on my heart strings. This could have been a great book, an amazing book. The characters were great, the childre [...]

Really loved this romance and how it had the idea of a ready made family. My finacee took that chance the same way that Caleb took the chance on Lauren so I really loved this. It was a romance but there was real life situations in there too. How an older child after a divorce can often blame the parent that didnt run away. I have experienced this with my own son so I felt for Lauren when she was on the receiving end of rude comments and insults.I love how there was a little more spice to the lov [...]

book 1 in the Welcome to redemption series. really great characters who acted like real people! I loved the fact that Lauren never over reacts to Caleb's interaction with her son Matt. I hate it when the authors make single mothers act like idiots over their children. I thought the story progressed at a nice pace and I really enjoyed getting to know Lauren and Caleb. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

To shortCan't really recommend this book. The book was over before I got started. The only character you kinda got to know is Max and in a romancewell a 10 yr old isn't what comes to mind. I was disappointed.

A Fair of the Heart (Welcome to Redemption #1) by Donna Marie RogersLauren Frazier is a single mom with 2 children Max who is 10 and Emma who is 3. Her husband left her and she tried between mortgage and such to keep up but nothing left for the repairs to the house. Caleb Hunter is in town and he is a handyman. He needs a haircut and the man at the library gives him 2 names for whom to go to. One is Lauren, so he goes there and realizes there is something special about her.Caleb is no stranger t [...]

This was an easy enjoyable read. On my Nook the story was approx 200 pages long out of 226 pages total. I liked this town and the characters. This is the first book in the series. The other books in this series are just as good if not better.Single mother, and work-at-home beautician, Lauren Frazier can barely keep a roof over her head, let alone stop it from falling down around her. When handyman Caleb Hunter shows up at her door for a haircut, he's the answer to her prayers--and the attraction [...]

I read this book in Nov-Dec. 2012 before I joined hence, the late review. This is a small town contemporary romance between Lauren Frazier, a single mother beautician & Caleb Hunter, a carpenter-electrician. They met when Caleb went for a haircut & there was an immediate attraction between them. They agreed bartering services, his fix-it-all at her house & her home cooked meals. In no time at all, Caleb found himself involved in her family. Her daughter Emma adored him while he found [...]

This was an interesting short book, but my problem with it was that it was too short! I got invested in the characters, and bam!e story ends. The pacing of the relationship also seemed rather fast, as they fell in love way too quickly for my liking. The characters were well thought out and developed, I just wanted more of the book! I also would have liked to see some additional world building, like the reason for the fair and more about the town. I peeked ahead and saw that the next book focuses [...]

This book was a very fast read for me. (That's not a bad thing, by the way.) It's a fairly realistic story of a divorcee raising two kids and taking a chance on love. The main two things I did not like: 1) There is some sex in the book and I was under the impression that this book was a "Christian Fiction read." So warning: don't let your Christian friends pick up this book or they'll be in for a disappointment. 2) Lots of profanity---LOTS!!! Again, a lot of readers in the Christian community wi [...]

This could have been a good romance story, especially with the way the hero helps with the single Mother's son. However, I am giving it only 2 stars because of the bad language that didn't need to be in the story, but on top of that, the way they used God's and Jesus' name in vain constantly throughout the book. No, this was not Christian Fiction, but please put warnings in your publishers reviews about language content and cursingERT: Also there was a very sexual scene that was not reported eit [...]

A short (free) read offered through B&N for the Nook. The characters were good but the ending a big abrupt. Caleb Hunter is returning to his hometown after his mother's passing. He falls for a single mom with two kids and has to decide if he wants to stick around the town and put down roots or go back to Chicago and his single but boring life. He quickly steps in to help with Max, the ten year old son who seems to always be making bad decisions. When Max is faced with an accident, Caleb find [...]

Ok, it's safe to say that I am not into romance novels at all. The only reason I read this was because it was on my Kindle. But, I will admit, I enjoyed it some. I found myself caring about the characters, and while the plot was thin (all romance novels are) I enjoyed it. This is part of a series and while I am sure I will eventually read them all, I am not racing to get there. Still, a nice read on a lazy afternoon.

Once again a short book in which resolutions must be arrived at quite quickly. I found the writing enjoyable and for the most part the characters likeable. The rebellious son should have received more attention in this book, both as in to how he became this way, and how he changed throughout - however as a secondary character I realize that there was not the time for that. Fast-paced romance for sure - the whole book took place in the span of a week.

This was a fast read. The story seemed a little rushed as it unfolded. (I believe the whole book occurred over a 2-3 week period). The characters, while likeable, didn't have very much of a back story which would have improved the story. This is a good story for a fast, entertaining, afternoon read.

Too short for my taste, I liked the characters and the story but it was just written without enough time to enjoy it. Maybe some love stories happen that fast and that easy but a little more depth would of been appreciated. Still on the fence about reading the next one, as it seems like it is the same thing.

This was a nice clean read, there isn't much to the book I did not like. It is well worth the read and I do plan to reread it at a later date. So many books you read once and never again. This is a book I will read over and over again. I plan to read all the redemption. Both I have read are outstanding.

First book from this author and although I liked this book, I found Caleb to hands on too fast for a guy who doesn't have kids.I'm all for an insta-love romance but this was one that for me didn't have enough drama between the characters and her children. The ex coming back would have been a nice twistRegards,Sonia Root, Book Junkie

I felt this book was too insta-love, too rushed. Abrupt ending. They kissed once and then she suddenly showed up at his house in a rain coat and a thong? Plus, her 10-year-old son hanging out with friends and smoking. Sorry, at 10 he should have had more supervision.

Easy read. Typical story line--he loves me, she loves me, but we can't seem to let each other know. It is love at first sight when Caleb Hunter meets Lauren, a divorced mother with two children to raise. There are some obstacles in their path to finding true love.

i dont typically enjoy books with kids involved but this one was pretty good especially since it was a free ebook! i would have liked it to be fleshed out a little more.cially the ending but overall an enjoyable read

Very short and sweet story. I think the Ten year old Max who has a lot of anger about his father leaving them was written very well. Three year old Emma was completely adorable. And I enjoy the romance between Caleb and Lauren. Wish it was longer to see what the future held for them.

This was a quick enjoyable read. Although it was very short, I liked this town and the characters. I wish that there was a bit more depth to the characters but it was still good. I look forward to reading the next book.

This is the first book I read by Donna Marie Rogers. It was a cute, sweet, short romance book. I enjoyed all the characters but I wish it was more background information about them. If you like nice short stories than this is a nice book to read. I would read more books by this author.

I loved this book, I just wish it could have been a little bit longer. I was very disappointed when I came to the end. Every character was realistic. Rogers did a wonderful job portraying a troubled child. Look forward to reading more from this author.Marla

Cute summer romanceAdorable little girl, surely 10 year old hurting from his father leaving and single mom meet a handyman. The hero returns to his hometown after his mother dies and finds love. Short, fast, enjoyable read with a little sex thrown in for good measure.

First in a series written by more than 1 author, alternating books. This was a fairly good small-town read, good romance, short. Could be read in 2-3 hours. Liked the characters and the town. Already downloaded the next in the series to my Nook.

Very quick read. The nook version I got from b&n has some editing issues, but not so bad that it got in the way of the story. Loved the characters and the hometown feel of the book. Can't wait to read the next.
