this book was great and full of colorful drawings. the book take the alphabet and makes It into an underwater experience.
Beautiful illustrations, but the writing was HORRIBLE.
Fun way of learning the alphabet by linking the letters to the ocean. Great for learning the letters in the alphabet and still be informative about the ocean.
Awards:Grade: Pre-kSummary: A simple alphabet book with a twist. This one has the theme of underwater. It focuses on items and words directly related to the ocean.Review: I appreciate a book that has a single focus. It makes it easier for children to focus on a single subject rather than a broad spectrum of objects. It's a great addition to any Pre-k library Uses:•Teaches the alphabet•Assists in print concepts• Assists with sounds connection to letters
Although Jerry Pallotta grew up on the east coast and is most familiar with the marine life found in the Atlantic Ocean, his book The Underwater Alphabet Book illustrated by Edgar Stewart, will be just as informational and entertaining to children and adults living on the west coast near the Pacific Ocean. In fact, the animals depicted in this book all live in tropical waters among the coral reefs. A great place to see many of the creatures mentioned in this book, would be the Monterey Bay Aquar [...]
I remember when I first came upon this author and it was since of my elementary school. We had an assembly where the author was invited and ever since he told me there was a Julia butterfly I have been hooked with him. The book writing is simple, large letters and easy for any child to read, especially with very young beginners. The author uses each entry to describe some fun facts for the childrenThe other thing that will catch the reader's attention is the beautiful detailed artwork and the in [...]
1.Four to eight year old's. 2. The next this book is full of information regarding underwater anim [...]
We have only read a few books by this author, but he's quickly becoming a favorite. This book was a lot of fun. While it doesn't go in-depth about anything, it does provide a quick and memorable glimpse into a specific animal. We loved reading about all sorts of strange and interesting things. The illustrations are superb. And he usually throws in a joke or two which keeps my kids on their toes.Give this book, and the author, a try.
This is would be a great book to have when you are teaching a unit about the ocean or sea creatures. This book could probably be read to almost any elementary grade, but upper elementary students could use it on their own to read and get information from.
We love these alphabet books. They are awesome, have just enough interesting info on each page, beautiful illustrations, and every once in awhile something quirky and fun that surprises. We read this over and over and will check it out again.
This is a great alphabet book to children the sequence of the alphabet, the visual look of the letters, and also teach them about underwater life. The illustrations are beautiful and realistic, so the reader can easily learn about the sea creature and see a picture of it as well.
I really liked this book. The illustrations are absolutely amazing. This is an alphabet book about all of the animals you can find underwater. The book also gives a good amount of information about the animals.
An underwater ABC book that gives little facts about the creatures in it. It would be great for a science class doing on lesson on the ocean. I think my son would have loved to read it if i had brought it home.
I enjoyed all of the different sea animals that were incorporated into this book. There were also some very interesting facts mentioned about each animal here too. I would use this to my students to get them interested in researching topics.
I love alphabet books and anything to do with underwater creatures is a big hit with coastal students. I'm excited to add this informational book with beautiful illustrations to my classroom library.
