This is a very interesting collection of primary texts from sixteenth century England. The selections are purposefully eclectic, coming from the nobility and famous preachers on the one hand, and passion plays and regular old laymen on the other hand. It also does a good job of providing perspectives from both genders and both main theological camps. On the whole, it does a great job of bringing this wildly mixed-up time to life.
I love this book to death. It is short - only a few hundred pages - but manages to distill the most important writers from the Reformation (Bale, Foxe, Tyndale, etc) into a manageable length and format. Not useful for anything in-depth, but that's why they make EEBO.
I'm currently attending a seminar with Professor King, who edited this book. :)
